BARMBY WANTS MANNONE TO STAY

Hull City manager Nick Barmby has said that he is still hopeful of keeping Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone, who is on a loan deal till the end of the season.

After having a number of troubles in the goalkeeping department, Arsenal seemed to have found their perfect replacement for Lehman in the form of Wojciech Szczęsny. Vito Mannone played a few games for Arsenal before being sent out on a loan deal. Hull city manager Nick Barmby has said that he is extremely impressed with the performances of Vito Mannone that he would like to keep him permanently at the KC stadium.

However, it is very unlikely that Vito Mannone will do enough to complete a move to Hull City that will see him extend his four month stay at the KC stadium. This is because of the financial troubles at Hull city, which is unlikely to see the club to pay the £ 1 million fee that Arsenal are demanding for him right now. Hull city managed to complete the Championship season in the eighth position just a few places below the play-off position. If the club had managed to get into the play-offs, they could at least have paid the transfer fee.

“We’ll have to sit down in the summer and see what can be done. I can’t dictate what Arsenal are going to say but I know he would like to come and play for us. That’s a positive start for us because we want him, but it’s not always that easy. I hope Saturday won’t be his last home game, I really hope not. He has been fantastic for us in both loan spells. He loves the club and he’s exactly the type of player that we want,” said manager Barmby regarding the situation surrounding Vito Mannone.
